MARUTAGOYA HOTARU — Log Cabin in the Satoyama of Naka City
CONCEPT
Marutagoya Hotaru is a log cabin set in the satoyama countryside of Naka City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Your stay includes exclusive use of both the log cabin and an adjoining single-story building. Set well apart from neighboring homes, the spacious grounds open onto a garden surrounded by rural scenery. Whether it's a three-generation trip, a family summer holiday, or a gathering with close friends, large groups can relax and spread out, surrounded by nature.
FACILITY
A wood-scented log cabin paired with an adjoining single-story guest building. A free, open layout that only a whole-property rental can offer, comfortable even for large groups.
Enjoy exclusive use of both the log cabin and the single-story building. With 3 bedrooms , the spacious layout suits large groups and three-generation trips alike.
Nearby is a biotope pond where you can encounter seasonal creatures and plants while strolling. Set well apart from neighboring homes, it offers plenty of privacy too.
The garden has BBQ equipment plus a simple outdoor hearth. Gather around the coals, or try your hand at hearth cooking.
Surrounded by nearby waterways and rice paddies. On early-summer evenings, you may catch sight of fireflies around the property.
Try nagashi-somen, noodles flowing down a bamboo flume — an available option for a summertime treat with family or friends.
A generously sized stone bathtub beneath a fragrant hinoki (cypress) ceiling and walls — a wonderfully relaxing way to soak away travel fatigue.
NATURE
Satoyama countryside that changes its expression with each season. Here you'll find nature experiences you won't find anywhere else.
Along the waterways around the property, fireflies can sometimes be seen dancing on early-summer nights. Turning off the lights and waiting quietly is, in itself, one of the luxuries unique to the satoyama.
We can set up a bamboo flume in the garden for nagashi-somen — noodles flowing down a split bamboo channel. It's a classic summer activity that gets everyone, from kids to adults, involved.
The property is surrounded by rice paddies and coppice woods. Nearby is a biotope pond you can stop by while strolling, home to seasonal creatures and plants. Set apart from neighboring homes, mornings greet you with the calls of bush warblers and pheasants, while evenings let you have the relaxed satoyama air all to yourself.
Marutagoya Hotaru plans to introduce a wood-burning stove, along with satoyama experiences such as bamboo-shoot digging, rice planting, and bamboo craft workshops. We aim to be a log cabin where there's something new to discover every time you visit.
